Currently Accepting Submissions for Novels/Novellas
Looking for unpublished manuscripts 20k-40k words for novellas, 50k-90k novels. Would like to fill some gaps in our publishing schedule for the second half of this year (2023). We like supernatural ghost stories and slashers, would definitely pub multiple quality haunted house books if we get sent a bunch, urban legend/real life lore and locale-based fiction is our flavor. Not really interested in comedy horror — though we’re happy to pub pulpy stuff and also classy ‘lit’/quiet horror fiction. We’ll read gothic, we’ll read sci-fi-horror, but typically will pass on those unless the plot rundown is exciting. If you’ve ever read any of our books you should have a pretty good idea of what we’re up to. Email firstname.lastname@example.org a complete, unpublished-in-any-form manuscript in doc format. Get us your publishing bio and tell us about your story. The range of advances below are typical of what we offer depending on your experience and profile. Thanks!
Novel: $500-2,000 advance, 60% royalties to author. Paperback and electronic book rights, worldwide in English.
Novella: $500-1,000 advance, same as above.
Debut Horror Novel Series – **Submissions now closed!**
#1 – Beulah by Christi Nogle (Published Jan 25, 2022)
#2 The Briars by Stephanie Parent (Coming in 2023)
We will be looking for submissions for 40k+ word manuscripts from authors who’ve never published a novel. Paying $500 signing bonus + $500 advance upon publication, and a 60% (author) royalty share on physical and electronic editions of the book.
You’re welcome to submit (1) complete, original, and unpublished 40k+ word manuscript to email@example.com if you have at least (2) paid horror writing credits and have never published a novel. If you have novellas and short story collections in print, you’re still eligible.
We’re looking for horror stories in the vein of what we’ve previously published, not dystopian science fiction nor dark fantasy, and we likely won’t publish YA.
Please include a synopsis of your story, your Twitter, author website, two of your writing credits, and a brief bio with your manuscript. We will read submissions until we sign a contract for a novel. At which point the submissions window will close until after publication of said novel.
We aim to release one novel per year in this series.
